Navua Football Community Mourns Tragic Loss of Star Player

The Navua Football Association is grieving the loss of former player Sikeli Nawaqa, who tragically passed away in a car accident in Perth, Western Australia, on Sunday.

At 39 years old, Nawaqa, originally from Calia, Navua, played for the district for several years before relocating to Australia for work on a farm. He also competed for Vashist Muni College in Secondary Schools football competitions.

Navua President Rajeev Prasad remembered Nawaqa as an exceptional footballer with a kind heart and an amiable demeanor. “He was loved by everyone and was very close to the Indo-Fijian community in Calia,” Prasad stated.

He extended heartfelt condolences to Nawaqa’s uncle, Inoke Nawaqa, and the entire family, offering prayers for strength during this difficult time. “You will always be our Navua hero, Sikeli. Rest high in the arms of the mighty Lord,” he added.

Nawaqa leaves behind his wife and four children, and funeral arrangements are currently underway.
