The Navua Football Association is in mourning following the death of former representative Sikeli Nawaqa, who tragically passed away in a road accident in Perth, Western Australia on Sunday.

The 39-year-old, originally from Calia, Navua, had a long history of representing his district in football before relocating to Australia for work on a farm. Additionally, he played for Vashist Muni College in various secondary school competitions.

Navua President Rajeev Prasad paid tribute to Nawaqa, describing him as an exceptional footballer with a humble spirit and a friendly demeanor.

“He was loved by everyone and had a close connection with the Indo-Fijian community in Calia,” Prasad remarked.

He extended heartfelt condolences to Nawaqa’s uncle, Inoke Nawaqa, and the family, offering prayers for strength during this difficult time. “You will always be our Navua hero Sikeli. Rest high in the arms of the mighty Lord,” he added.

Nawaqa is survived by his wife and four children, with funeral arrangements currently being organized.
