Navua Football Association is in mourning following the death of former player Sikeli Nawaqa, who tragically passed away in a road accident in Perth, Western Australia on Sunday.

The 39-year-old, originally from Calia, Navua, had a long history of representing the district before relocating to Australia to work on a farm. He also played for Vashist Muni College in secondary school competitions.

Rajeev Prasad, president of Navua, remembered Nawaqa as a talented footballer with a kind spirit and a charming personality. “He was cherished by everyone and had a close relationship with the Indo-Fijian community in Calia,” Prasad said.

The association extended heartfelt condolences to Nawaqa’s uncle Inoke and his family, praying for strength during this difficult time. “You will always be our Navua hero Sikeli. Rest high in the arms of the mighty Lord.”

Nawaqa is survived by his wife and four children, and funeral arrangements are currently being organized.
