Navosa’s Pine Ambitions: A Greener Future Ahead!

FIJI Pine Limited is making efforts to develop Navosa into a fully established base as they work on expanding the new forest station. The Navosa Pine Station was established in January this year through a collaboration involving village elders, the Ministry of Forestry, police, and Fiji Pine Limited, aiming to plant pine trees in the area and reduce marijuana cultivation.

Josaia Ratatagia, the station officer in charge of Navosa, reported that a significant pine restocking initiative is currently underway with the assistance of Nabou Forest officers. George Young, who oversees the Nabou station, mentioned that his team would support the Navosa team in reaching their planting goals.

“We have set a target to plant 88 hectares,” Mr. Young stated. Senior managers from both Nabou and Navosa have formulated a strategic plan for the major restocking initiative, which includes organizing three planting teams from Nasovotava, Nabou, and Vagadra to assist in Navosa next week.

These teams will collaborate with the existing two teams in Navosa to enhance the area’s restocking efforts and increase manpower for the project. “We have only two weeks to reach our target, so we will need to adapt to the time and weather conditions,” he added. Additionally, they will deliver roofing materials and camping supplies to support the three teams in Navosa.

Prior to the deployment of the pine restocking teams, Mr. Ratatagia and his Navosa team have also undertaken road construction work to prepare for the upcoming project.
