Preparations are in full swing for the Navosa Netball Annual General Meeting, set to take place on February 12 at Namataku District School starting at 6pm. This meeting aims to build upon the success of a recent two-day tournament organized by FMF Navosa Netball, which garnered support from Navosa Rugby.
The tournament showcased 20 teams and provided thrilling netball matches that underscored the growth of the sport within the Navosa region. Notably, Nanumiau emerged victorious as the Best Qualifier after a closely fought final against the young Qwali Vula 1 team, which is coached by Sadam Bainivalu. Nanumiau’s success can be attributed to the experience and leadership of former Fiji Pearls squad member Robyn Vula, along with other senior players.
The tournament featured renowned Navosa netball player Elenoa Vatureba, who played for Keiyasi Blues and served as an inspiration to younger talents. Nadroga Netball president Judy Kumar commended the event’s organizers and participants, saying the robust turnout and competitive spirit reflect the positive evolution of netball in Navosa. She also expressed gratitude to the Nadroga Netball executives—Katrina Magderlyn, Qainiuci Lai, Tabaiwalu Salad Bowl Kumar—and stalwarts like Elenoa Vatureba Dinoa and Mrs. Qoro for their valuable support.
After the AGM, excitement will shift to the Koronamaya 7s, slated for February 13 and 14 in 2026, while the Navosa Netball knockout competition is planned for March 2026, promising a dynamic year ahead for netball enthusiasts in Navosa.
