The Tebara Festival has kicked off in Nausori, attracting significant crowds at Syria Park, even amidst unpredictable weather conditions. This weeklong celebration focuses on cultural heritage, youth empowerment, and community pride, featuring eight contestants vying for the coveted Miss Tebara title as part of broader efforts to promote women’s empowerment.

During the opening ceremony, Minister for Local Government Maciu Nalumisa expressed appreciation for the collaboration among traditional landowners, sponsors, and event organizers in making the festival a reality. He emphasized, “To the people of Nausori and the greater Tebara Region, this festival belongs to you. Your support, your attendance, and your pride ensure its success year after year.”

Nalumisa also highlighted the commitment of the Ministry and the Coalition Government to enhancing the infrastructure and municipal services in townships like Nausori, fostering shared community spaces that strengthen community ties.

Major sponsor Punjas Fiji Limited’s Chief Marketing Officer, Gopal Jadhav, conveyed the company’s pride in supporting such a well-established, community-focused event. He noted, “This is just the beginning; this festival is not just about celebration but about looking ahead with optimism and confidence to what we can achieve together as a community.”

With organizers anticipating a steady influx of attendees throughout the week, the festival serves as a testament to the resilience and unity of the local community, fostering a spirit of optimism for the future.
