A tragic road accident in the Nausori Highlands has claimed the life of a 15-year-old male student, marking yet another road fatality in the region. The student was traveling with seven others towards Nadi when the driver lost control of the vehicle while navigating a downhill stretch.
The vehicle overturned, ejecting all occupants before tumbling down a steep cliff, approximately 100 meters deep. Immediate medical assistance was sought, and all passengers were transported to Nadi Hospital. Unfortunately, the 15-year-old was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Three other passengers are currently receiving care in the hospital but are reported to be in stable condition. The other passengers, including the driver, were treated for their injuries and subsequently discharged.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident in hopes of preventing such tragedies in the future. This incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for heightened caution while driving, particularly in challenging terrains.
