Excitement is building as Nausori prepares to host the Fiji Amateur Boxing competition tomorrow, featuring an anticipated 25 to 30 exciting bouts, according to Fiji Boxing national coach Cam Todd. Following a successful event in Navua last month, Todd aims for even better performances this time around.
The competition will see participation from boxing clubs across the West, with top youth boxers who competed in Tahiti earlier this year also expected to take part. Todd expressed that one of the main goals of hosting events in locations like Nausori is to draw more boxers, especially female athletes, into the sport.
“We are striving to spread the reach of boxing across the island and not just focus on Suva. Our goal is to build a stronger boxing community,” said Todd.
After successful coaching courses and competitions held in places like Ba and Navua, the focus now shifts to Nausori for another day filled with thrilling boxing action. Elite boxers from the national squad will also compete to sharpen their skills in preparation for upcoming international events hosted in Fiji.
Fans and supporters are invited to the Nausori District Primary Hall from 12 PM to 6 PM to enjoy a day of intense and exciting boxing matches.
