Nausori Bus Attack: Court Appearance and Police Outreach Pledge

An 18-year-old man from Sawakasa Village is scheduled to appear before the Nausori Magistrates Court today, facing charges of property damage and unlawful wounding.

According to police reports, the young man allegedly participated in an incident on Monday night, where he and others threw stones at a bus and three trucks traveling from Natovi Jetty to Suva. During this attack, a 53-year-old woman who was a passenger on the bus sustained injuries.

Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga condemned the attack, emphasizing that such violent behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. He pointed out the significant number of commuters who depend on this route daily, noting that such acts jeopardize lives.

In response to this troubling incident, Lutunauga announced that the police will increase community outreach in the area to promote awareness and prevent similar occurrences in the future. The commitment to community engagement reflects a proactive approach to ensure safety and foster a sense of security among residents and commuters alike.
