The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka officiating at the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad stated that the launch will mark the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity and a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.

Mr. Prasad emphasized the nation’s potential to achieve significant wealth over the next 25 to 30 years, but warned that this will not be possible if the current practices continue. He stressed the importance of political stability, consistent policy, and a consultative, transparent, and accountable approach.

The Ministry of Finance is leading the NDP initiative, which aims to build upon the findings from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and the outcomes of the Education Summit. Mr. Prasad expressed confidence that the government will establish a lasting legacy of political culture and leadership, ensuring that power transitions occur peacefully, transparently, and accountably.
