The National Development Plan (NDP) is set to be launched next Tuesday, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka presiding over the event. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Biman Prasad noted that this launch will mark the beginning of a comprehensive NDP aimed at fostering national unity while promoting a collective vision for social, economic, and political progress.
“The National Development Plan will be unveiled on Tuesday by the Prime Minister,” Mr. Prasad stated. He emphasized that the nation has the potential to become prosperous within the next 25 to 30 years, but achieving this goal requires a departure from current practices.
He highlighted the necessity of political stability and consistent policy-making, as well as a consultative, transparent, and accountable approach to governance. The Ministry of Finance will lead the NDP initiative, which will build upon the insights generated from the Economic Summit, the Fiscal Review Committee report, and outcomes from the Education Summit.
“We are confident as a Government that we will establish a legacy – regardless of our time in office – characterized by a political culture and leadership that facilitates a peaceful, transparent, and accountable transition of power from one government to another,” Mr. Prasad added.
