The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills as they prepare for next week’s Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final. This was highlighted by the team’s head coach, Inoke Vucago, following their impressive 41-0 victory against Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.
“We lost in the quarterfinals last year, and this year, we are determined to go further than that,” Vucago stated. He emphasized the importance of focusing on one game at a time, noting that the players had trained thoroughly leading up to the quarterfinal.
Vucago encouraged the team to maximize their scoring opportunities during halftime, where they led 17-0. He mentioned that many players come from the Marama Championship, representing the Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka under-20 clubs, which has equipped them well for 40-minute matches.
Looking ahead to the semi-final, Vucago expressed the need for improved performance, saying he is proud of the players for their hard training and commitment to their game plan. He dedicated the win to the supportive parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School.
“Our forwards have been our biggest strength, as they’ve shown dominance on the field, but we also possess a strong backline, creating a well-rounded team,” he added.
