The Under-18 girls rugby team from Natabua High School is aiming to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills in preparation for next week’s Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final. This statement reflects NHS head coach Inoke Vucago’s comments following the team’s impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.
Vucago expressed that after being eliminated in the quarterfinals the previous year, the team returned this season eager to progress beyond that stage. He emphasized the importance of focusing on one match at a time, noting that the players had adequately prepared ahead of their quarterfinal clash.
At halftime, with a 17-0 lead, Vucago encouraged his players to increase their scoring output. He mentioned that many players have gained valuable experience by participating in the Marama Championship with under-20 clubs in Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has equipped them for the demands of 40-minute rugby matches.
Looking ahead to the semi-final, Vucago highlighted the need for improved performance. He expressed pride in his players for their hard work and adherence to their game plan, stating they were eager for victory. The win was dedicated to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School.
Vucago pointed out that the team’s greatest strength lies in their forwards, who have shown dominance, while also acknowledging the effectiveness of their strong backline for a well-rounded team dynamic.
