Natabua High’s Rugby Team Aims for Glory in Upcoming Semi-Final

The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental techniques ahead of the upcoming Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. Head coach Inoke Vucago shared insights after the team’s impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

“We faced elimination in the quarterfinal last year and this season we are determined to advance beyond that stage,” he stated. “It’s important for the players to take it one game at a time, as they have prepared thoroughly leading up to the quarterfinal.”

Vucago encouraged his team to increase their score during halftime, noting they were ahead 17-0. He highlighted that many players have experience competing in the Marama Championship with under-20 clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has helped them adapt to playing 40-minute rugby matches.

He emphasized the need for an improved performance in the semi-final. “I’m very proud of the players for their hard work; they executed about 80 percent of their game plan and showed a strong desire to win,” he commented.

The victory has been dedicated to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. Vucago praised the strength of the team’s forwards, noting their dominance, while also recognizing the balance offered by a robust backline.
