The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills ahead of the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. Head coach Inoke Vucago shared insights following their impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.
Vucago noted the team’s determination to advance further this year, having been eliminated in the quarterfinals last season. “It’s one game at a time for the players as they prepared well prior to the quarterfinal,” he remarked. He encouraged his players to score more points at halftime, leading 17-0.
Several players have experience from competing in the Marama Championship with under-20 clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which he believes has helped them adapt to the 40-minute game format. Vucago emphasized the need for an improved performance in the semi-final and expressed pride in the team’s hard work and dedication to their game plan.
He dedicated the victory to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School, highlighting the strength of the forwards and the balance provided by a strong backline.
