Natabua High School’s Rugby Team Eyes Victory in Upcoming Semi-Final Showdown

The Under-18 girls rugby team from Natabua High School aims to refine their discipline and fundamental skills as they prepare for next week’s Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final. This was emphasized by head coach Inoke Vucago in an interview following their 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

Vucago noted, “After losing in the quarterfinals last year, we returned this season determined to exceed that stage.” He stressed the importance of taking one match at a time as the team had trained rigorously before the quarterfinal.

Telling the players to maximize their scoring opportunities at halftime while leading 17-0, Vucago mentioned that many of his athletes have prior experience playing in the Marama Championship for clubs in Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has prepared them well for competitive matches.

He acknowledged the need for an improved performance in the upcoming semi-final, saying, “I’m very proud of the players; they have trained hard and executed 80 percent of our game plan. Their desire to win is evident.”

The victory was dedicated to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. Vucago highlighted the team’s strength in their forwards, noting their dominance, while also recognizing the effectiveness of their backline, creating a well-rounded team.
