The Under-18 girls rugby team from Natabua High School is focusing on enhancing their discipline and fundamental skills ahead of the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. Head coach Inoke Vucago shared insights following their impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School.
Vucago remarked that after losing in last year’s quarterfinals, the team has returned with a strong determination to progress further this time. He emphasized the importance of taking each match step by step, acknowledging the players’ preparation leading to their recent success.
At halftime, with a 17-0 lead, Vucago encouraged his players to increase their score. Many of his team members are experienced, having competed in the Marama Championship with clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has prepared them well for the 40-minute matches.
The coach expressed the need for an improved performance in the upcoming semi-final, stating that he is proud of his players for their hard work and commitment to the game plan. He dedicated their recent win to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School.
Vucago noted that the team’s biggest strength lies in their dominant forwards, while also highlighting the effectiveness of their balanced backline.
