Natabua High School’s Rugby Team Eyes Glory in Upcoming Semi-Final

The Under-18 girls rugby team from Natabua High School is focused on enhancing their discipline and fundamental skills as they prepare for the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final set for next week. This was highlighted by head coach Inoke Vucago after their impressive 41-0 victory against Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

Vucago reflected on last year’s performance, stating that after being eliminated in the quarterfinals, the team is returning this year with a strong desire to advance beyond that stage. He emphasized the importance of taking each game step by step, ensuring players were well-prepared for the quarterfinal match.

During halftime, when his team was leading 17-0, Vucago encouraged the players to increase their scoring. He noted that many team members have experience from competing in the Marama Championship for clubs in Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has equipped them to play 40-minute matches effectively.

Looking ahead to the semi-final, Vucago expressed the need for a stronger performance. He praised the players for their dedication and noted that they had successfully executed 80 percent of their game plan, displaying their eagerness to win.

He also dedicated the recent victory to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. Vucago credited the team’s strength to their forwards, who have been particularly dominant, while also highlighting the robustness of the backline, contributing to a well-rounded team.
