The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills as they prepare for the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. Head coach Inoke Vucago shared his insights with SUNsports following their impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.
Vucago noted that after being eliminated in the quarterfinals last year, the team is determined to advance further this season. “It’s one game at a time for the players as they prepared well prior to the quarterfinal,” he remarked.
During halftime, with the team leading 17-0, he urged his players to increase their scoring. Many team members have experience from competing in the Marama Championship for under-20 clubs in Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has prepared them well for 40-minute matches.
Vucago expressed that a stronger performance will be necessary for the semi-final. He expressed pride in his players for their dedication, stating they executed 80 percent of their game plan and displayed a strong will to win.
He dedicated the victory to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. “Our biggest strength is our forwards, who have been dominant, complemented by a strong backline, providing a good balance,” he added.
