Natabua High School’s Rugby Team Aims for Glory in Semi-Finals!

The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team is focused on enhancing their discipline and fundamental skills ahead of their semi-final match in the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy next week. Head coach Inoke Vucago shared his insights after the team’s impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

“We faced a quarter-final defeat last year, and this season, we’re determined to go beyond that,” he stated.

Vucago emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time, noting that the players had prepared thoroughly in advance of the quarter-final. He encouraged the team to increase their score during halftime, as they were already in the lead with 17-0.

Many of the players have gained valuable experience by participating in the Marama Championship with Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka under-20 clubs, which has helped them adapt to the demands of 40-minute rugby.

Looking ahead to the semi-final, Vucago expressed his belief that the team needed to deliver a stronger performance. “I’m very proud of our players; they’ve worked hard and executed about 80 percent of our game plan. Their desire to win is clear.”

He dedicated the recent victory to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. Vucago highlighted the team’s strengths, pointing out the dominance of their forwards while also acknowledging the effectiveness of their strong backline, creating a balanced approach to their gameplay.
