Natabua High School Rugby Team Aims for Glory in Upcoming Semi-Final

The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills as they prepare for the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. Head coach Inoke Vucago shared insights following their decisive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

Vucago expressed the team’s determination to advance further this year, noting their past quarterfinal loss, “We lost in the quarterfinal last year and we came back this year hungry trying to get further than the quarterfinal.”

He emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time as the players trained diligently leading up to the quarterfinal. With a commanding 17-0 lead at halftime, Vucago encouraged his players to keep scoring, highlighting that many team members have experience from playing in the Marama Championship for the Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka under-20 clubs.

These players have been well-prepared for the demands of 40-minute matches. Vucago stressed the need for the team to deliver an even stronger performance in the semi-final, expressing pride in the players for their hard work and adherence to their game plan, stating, “They were hungry for the win.”

He dedicated the victory to the parents, teachers, and students of NHS, pointing out that the forwards have been a significant strength of the team, alongside a powerful backline, ensuring a balanced approach to play.
