Natabua High School Girls Rugby Team Gears Up for Semi-Final Showdown

The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills ahead of the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. This statement was made by NHS head coach Inoke Vucago after the team secured a decisive 41-0 victory against Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.

Vucago reflected on their previous quarter-final loss from last year, expressing a desire to progress further this time around. “We came back this year hungry trying to get further than the quarterfinal,” he noted. He emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time and praised the players for their preparation leading up to the quarterfinal match.

At halftime, with a commanding lead of 17-0, Vucago encouraged the team to keep increasing their score. He highlighted that many of the players have experience competing in the Marama Championship for under-20 clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has prepared them for the rigors of 40-minute rugby.

Vucago stressed the necessity for the players to deliver an improved performance in the semi-final, expressing pride in their hard work and commitment to executing 80 percent of their game plan. He recognized the players’ eagerness to secure a win and dedicated the victory to the parents, teachers, and students of NHS.

The coach pointed out that the team’s greatest strength lies in their dominant forwards, while also acknowledging the effectiveness of their strong backline, noting a balance in their game strategy.
