The Under-18 girls rugby team from Natabua High School is set to focus on enhancing their discipline and fundamental skills as they approach the semi-final of the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy next week. This statement was made by NHS head coach Inoke Vucago following their impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.
Vucago expressed the team’s determination to go further this year after being eliminated in the quarterfinals last year. He emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time while acknowledging their thorough preparation leading up to the quarterfinal.
At halftime, with a 17-0 lead, he encouraged the players to increase their scoring. Many members of the team have experience playing in the Marama Championship for under-20 clubs representing Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which Vucago believes has prepared them well for the demands of 40-minute matches.
He noted the necessity for a stronger performance in the forthcoming semi-final while expressing pride in the team’s dedication and execution of 80 percent of their game plan, highlighting their eagerness for victory. The coach dedicated the win to the supportive parents, teachers, and students of NHS.
Vucago pointed out that the team’s main strength lies in their forwards, who have shown dominance, complemented by a robust backline, creating a well-rounded team.
