The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and foundational skills ahead of next week’s Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final. This follows their convincing 41-0 victory against Nasinu Secondary School on Friday, as stated by NHS head coach Inoke Vucago in an interview.
Vucago noted the team’s determination to surpass their performance from last year, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals. “We’re focusing on one game at a time as the players prepared thoroughly for this match,” he remarked. He emphasized that the players were encouraged to increase their scoring after leading 17-0 at halftime.
Many team members have previous experience playing in the Marama Championship for under-20 clubs in Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has contributed to their readiness for the 40-minute game format. Vucago expressed the need for improved performance in the upcoming semi-final, commending the players for their hard work and commitment to their game strategy.
He dedicated their recent victory to the parents, teachers, and students of NHS and highlighted the strength of the team’s forwards, while also noting the balance provided by a robust backline.
