The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team is aiming to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills ahead of their semi-final match in the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy next week. This statement followed an impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School, as conveyed by NHS head coach Inoke Vucago.
In a recent interview, Vucago expressed the team’s determination to improve upon last year’s quarterfinal exit. “We lost in the quarterfinal last year, and we came back this year hungry to advance further,” he noted.
Vucago emphasized the importance of taking things “one game at a time” and praised the players for their preparation leading up to the quarterfinal. He encouraged the team to increase their scoring after they led 17-0 at halftime.
Many players have experience competing in the Marama Championship with clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has equipped them for the 40-minute matches.
He remarked on the need for an even stronger performance in the upcoming semi-final and expressed pride in the players for executing 80 percent of their game plan. “They were hungry for the win,” he shared.
The victory was dedicated to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. Highlighting the team’s strengths, Vucago pointed out the dominance of their forwards while also noting the strength of their backline, indicating a well-rounded team.
