The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team aims to enhance their discipline and fundamental techniques in preparation for the upcoming Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. This comes after their impressive 41-0 victory against Nasinu Secondary School on Friday, as noted by head coach Inoke Vucago in an interview.
Vucago expressed the team’s determination to improve after experiencing a quarterfinal loss last year. He emphasized a focused, step-by-step approach in their preparation leading up to the next match. After establishing a 17-0 lead at halftime, he encouraged his players to continue scoring in the second half.
Many players have experience in the Marama Championship, representing Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka under-20 clubs, which Vucago believes has well-prepared them for competitive play. He acknowledged the need for a stronger performance in the semi-final, expressing pride in how the team has committed to their training and executed about 80 percent of their game plan.
The coach dedicated the recent victory to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School, highlighting that the forwards have been a significant strength of the team, while the backline also contributes to a well-rounded strategy.
