The Natabua High School Under-18 girls rugby team is set to focus on enhancing their discipline and fundamental techniques as they prepare for the Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. This statement was made by NHS head coach Inoke Vucago following their impressive 41-0 victory over Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.
Vucago emphasized the team’s determination to go beyond their previous quarterfinal loss last year, stating they are eager to achieve greater success this season. He highlighted the importance of taking one game at a time, noting that the players had adequately prepared for the quarterfinal match.
At halftime, with a 17-0 lead, Vucago encouraged the players to continue adding points to their tally. He mentioned that many players have experience competing in the Marama Championship with the Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka under-20 clubs, making them well-equipped for the demands of 40-minute rugby matches.
Looking ahead to the semi-final, Vucago stressed the need for an improved performance. He expressed pride in his team’s hard work, indicating they have executed 80 percent of their game plan while showing a strong desire to win.
He dedicated the victory to the parents, teachers, and students of NHS and noted that the team’s greatest strength lies in their forwards, who have shown dominance, complemented by a solid backline for a well-rounded team performance.
