The Under-18 girls rugby team from Natabua High School is aiming to enhance their discipline and fundamental skills in preparation for the upcoming Weet-Bix Raluve Trophy semi-final next week. This was revealed by NHS head coach Inoke Vucago in an interview after the team’s impressive 41-0 victory against Nasinu Secondary School on Friday.
Vucago expressed the team’s determination to advance further this year, having been eliminated in the quarterfinals last season. He emphasized the importance of taking it one game at a time as the players have shown strong preparation ahead of the quarterfinal.
At halftime, Vucago encouraged his team to increase their scoring after leading 17-0. He noted that many of the players have experience competing in the Marama Championship with separate clubs from Nadi, Yasawa, and Lautoka, which has helped them become well-prepared for 40-minute matches.
He acknowledged that a better performance will be necessary in the semi-final and praised the players for their hard work, stating they executed 80 percent of their game plan and displayed a strong desire to win.
Vucago dedicated the victory to the parents, teachers, and students of Natabua High School. He highlighted that the team’s greatest strength lies within their forwards, who have consistently proved dominant, complemented by a capable backline that provides balance to the team.
