Flying winger Joji Nasova is poised to make a significant impact as he makes his debut for the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua against the Hurricanes in Round Three of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific. Wearing the number 14 jersey, Nasova is anticipated to bring his speed and agility to the match, infusing the Drua’s attack with fresh energy as the team seeks to gain momentum early in the season.
Coach Glen Jackson expressed his excitement about Nasova’s transition from sevens to the traditional 15-a-side format, highlighting his quality both as a player and a person. “He’ll go on the wing and we’re excited to see him perform,” Jackson noted, underscoring the high expectations surrounding the talented outside back.
The Drua’s matchday lineup features key partnerships, with captain Frank Lomani controlling the game from halfback and young flyhalf Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula continuing to hone his skills in that pivotal position. The midfield duo of Isikeli Rabitu and Tuidraki Samusamuvodre is expected to deliver a blend of strength and creativity, while Ilaisa Droasese provides a sturdy presence at fullback, capable of launching counter-attacks.
The back three will be completed by Epeli Momo on the left wing, adding further depth to the attacking options. In the pack, the front row is bolstered by Haereiti Hetet, Zuriel Togiatama, and Mesake Doge, with Mesake Vocevoce and Isoa Nasilasila contributing to the power in the engine room.
Tackling the physical challenge posed by the Hurricanes will fall to the loose forward trio of Etonia Waqa, Motikiai Murray, and Elia Canakaivata, who have their work cut out for them at the breakdown and in contact situations.
The bench is rich with potential impact players, including hooker Kavaia Tagivetaua and prop Emosi Tuqiri, who are expected to bring energy when introduced. Veteran Peni Ravai will lend his experience, while Vilive Miramira and dynamic loose forward Kitione Salawa will provide additional size and intensity.
Backup roles are filled with promise as well, with Isoa Tuwai and Issak Fines-Leleiwasa covering the halfback positions, bringing tempo and game management, while Inia Tabuavou adds spark to the midfield towards the end of the match.
Historically, the Drua and the Hurricanes have faced off four times, with the Drua managing only one victory, which came in Suva three years ago. The two teams will clash at 3:35 PM on Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka, and fans can catch the live action on FBC Sports. The anticipation builds as the Drua look to make a statement against a formidable opponent.
