Nasinu Secondary School’s under-17 rugby league team celebrated a thrilling 14-12 victory against Naitasiri Secondary School at the St. Marcellin Primary School grounds, securing their place in the zonal quarter-finals. This win highlights a significant milestone in their journey towards excellence in secondary school rugby league.
Team captain Uliano Logalaca Radrodro reflected on the match, noting areas for improvement despite the victory. He emphasized the importance of enhancing team chemistry both on and off the field and stressed the need for consistent training attendance, particularly from those who have been absent. “We need to ensure that our discipline in school translates to our performance on the field. Behavioral issues can have a direct impact on our game,” Radrodro remarked.
In addition to Nasinu’s success, other notable matches included Marist Brothers High School defeating Noco Secondary School 24-10 and a close victory for Namosi Secondary over Dudley High School, ending at 14-6. Nabua High School also triumphed against Lomary Secondary School with a 14-8 score.
The younger age divisions showcased fierce competition as MGM shut out Saint Vincent College 14-0, while Gospel High earned an 18-0 victory against Ratu Sukuna Memorial School. Vashist Muni narrowly defeated Suva Sangam 10-6, and Naitasiri emerged victorious against Lami with a score of 12-4.
