Nasinu Secondary School’s under-17 rugby league team achieved a thrilling victory over Naitasiri Secondary School, winning 14-12 in a nail-biting match at St. Marcellin Primary School grounds. This last-minute success secures Nasinu’s progression to the zonal quarter-finals, marking a significant step in their quest for supremacy in secondary school rugby league.

Team captain, Uliano Logalaca Radrodro, acknowledged the need for improvement despite the win. He pointed out that areas such as defense and ball handling require focus. “We need to enhance our team chemistry both on and off the field. It’s crucial for the boys to attend training consistently, especially those who have missed sessions,” Radrodro stated.

He emphasized the link between discipline in school and sports performance, highlighting that behavioral issues can impact game performance. As a renewed focus emerges, Radrodro remains committed to guiding his team through the knockout stages, aiming to strengthen Nasinu’s position in the league.

In related under-17 matches, Marist Brothers High School bested Noco Secondary School with a 24-10 score, and Namosi Secondary narrowly defeated Dudley High School 14-6. In other results, Nabua High School secured a victory against Lomary Secondary School, finishing at 14-8.

The younger age groups also demonstrated competitive spirit, with MGM dominating Saint Vincent College 14-0 and Gospel High achieving an 18-0 shutout against Ratu Sukuna Memorial School. Vashist Muni overcame Suva Sangam 10-6, while Naitasiri captured a win against Lami, finishing at 12-4.

Upcoming matches promise excitement, with the elimination round for the U15 category and the zonal quarter-finals for the U17 and U19 grades scheduled for next Saturday.
