Nasinu Secondary School maintained their unbeaten streak in the Vodafone U18 Deans competition by narrowly defeating Tailevu North College 17-13 in a quarterfinal match at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva today.
Tailevu North initially took control of the game, securing a 6-0 lead thanks to two penalties converted by Ratu Kolinio in the 5th and 12th minutes. However, Nasinu quickly bounced back, with Josevata Vaibete scoring a try in the 26th minute. Following a successful conversion, Nasinu took a 7-6 lead.
The match was highly competitive, with Tailevu North facing disciplinary issues that resulted in a yellow card. Despite this disadvantage, they rallied and crossed the try line, but the referee ruled it out.
Capitalizing on their momentum, Nasinu managed to score another tough try to further their lead. Tailevu North then produced a brilliant try of their own, which the referees eventually validated after some discussion.
However, further disciplinary problems plagued Tailevu North, leading to a second yellow card and putting them at a numerical disadvantage. Nasinu seized this opportunity and sealed their victory with a late penalty, finalizing the score at 17-13.
