After a 12-year wait, the Nasinu Secondary School Under-18 rugby team has reached the semifinal of the Vodafone Deans Trophy, advancing past the quarterfinal for the first time since 2012. The team, coached by Semisi Yasiyasi, achieved this milestone by defeating Tailevu North College with a close score of 17-13.

This Saturday, the Southern Zone champions are set to compete against Cuvu College at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Yasiyasi emphasized the importance of hard work and dedication that led the team to this stage. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the players, highlighting their confidence while encouraging them to remain humble.

Cuvu College, who previously upset Ratu Kadavulevu School with a narrow 23-22 victory, is expected to be a formidable opponent. Yasiyasi mentioned that the team will focus on refining specific areas of their game this week in preparation for the semifinal.

Historically, Nasinu Secondary School has produced many notable rugby players, including Lemeki Koroi, Setareki Tawake, former France winger Virimi Vakatawa, Sakeo Raloa, and current Wallabies winger Marika Koroibete. Yasiyasi has also urged former students, parents, and guardians to show their support in the upcoming match.
