After a 12-year wait, the Nasinu Secondary School Under-18 rugby team has successfully reached the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans Trophy, having last achieved this milestone in 2012.

This Saturday, the Southern Zone champions will play against Cuvu College in the semifinals at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. They secured their spot by narrowly defeating Tailevu North College with a score of 17-13 in the quarterfinals.

Coach Semisi Yasiyasi praised his team for their hard work and dedication that led to this achievement. He noted that the players have made significant sacrifices, and despite their confidence, they have chosen to remain humble in their approach.

Yasiyasi acknowledged the challenge posed by Cuvu College, who recently upset Ratu Kadavulevu School with a close 23-22 victory. He emphasized that the team will focus on improving specific aspects of their game in preparation for the upcoming match.

Nasinu Secondary School has a rich history of producing exceptional rugby talent, including notable players such as Lemeki Koroi, Setareki Tawake, former France winger Virimi Vakatawa, Sakeo Raloa, and current Wallabies winger Marika Koroibete.

The coach has reached out to former students, parents, and guardians, urging them to provide support for the team’s semifinal match.
