Nasinu’s under-16s maintained momentum in the Southern Zone of the Extra Youth League after a confident 4-0 win over Lami, with two goals coming in each half and a display that dominated most facets of the field. Team captain Samuel Koi said there is still plenty of room for improvement as they look ahead to their next match next weekend.

Two goals apiece in the first and second halves underscored Nasinu’s control, with strong work from midfield and a compact defense helping shelter a comfortable victory. Koi, who wore the captain’s armband, paid tribute to the effort of the squad and the coach, saying, “First of all I want to thank the Lord for giving us the strength and the wisdom to play the game today, after a long time we have got together and the boys proved we can still do it. Not forgetting the hard work of our coach who made the team possible, and I thank the boys for their hard work today.” He added that the side must tighten their structure on the park to keep progressing, along with improvements in ball work and defensive lines.

This win comes after Nasinu opened their campaign with a challenging 4-0 defeat, a result that highlighted fitness and preparation gaps. The coaching staff acknowledged that the team had not trained together effectively ahead of that opener and that a last-minute assembly of players contributed to the setback. The improvement on display against Lami signals that Nasinu have begun addressing those issues and are focusing on sharper training and better cohesion as they prepare for their next test.

Looking ahead, Nasinu will aim to build on this performance with targeted work on team shape, ball handling, and defensive organization during the run-up to the weekend fixture. The positives from today’s result, combined with the lessons from the opening match, suggest a team that is learning quickly and confident about continuing their upward trajectory in the competition.

Editor’s note: Nasinu’s progress this season reflects a broader emphasis on youth development and resilience in the league, where teams are increasingly aiming to translate early-season lessons into sustained on-field improvement. If Nasinu can sustain the pace and deepen their on-ball discipline, they could become a stronger force in the latter stages of the Southern Zone contest.
