Nasinu Secondary School maintained their unbeaten streak in the Vodafone U18 Deans competition by narrowly defeating Tailevu North College 17-13 in a quarterfinal match held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva this afternoon.
Tailevu North surprised the southern zone champions by taking an early 6-0 lead with two successful penalties converted by Ratu Kolinio in the 5th and 12th minutes.
However, Nasinu quickly shifts the game’s momentum in their favor, with Josevata Vaibete scoring a try in the 26th minute, followed by a successful conversion that put them ahead 7-6.
The match remained competitive, but Tailevu North faced disciplinary issues, resulting in a yellow card. They managed to respond with a try, but the referee disallowed it.
Seizing the opportunity, Nasinu scored another try, extending their lead. Tailevu North eventually crossed the try line again, with the referees awarding this try after some discussion.
Despite their efforts, Tailevu North encountered further disciplinary problems that led to a second yellow card, leaving them one player short. Nasinu capitalized on the situation, securing the victory with a late penalty, finalizing the score at 17-13.
