Nasinu Secondary School maintained their unbeaten streak in the Vodafone U18 Deans competition by securing a narrow 17-13 victory over Tailevu North College during their quarterfinal match at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva this afternoon.
Tailevu North caught the southern zone champions off guard early in the game, taking a 6-0 lead thanks to two successful penalties from Ratu Kolinio in the 5th and 12th minutes.
However, Nasinu quickly responded with determination, as Josevata Vaibete scored a try in the 26th minute. Following the successful conversion, Nasinu took the lead at 7-6.
The match remained fiercely contested, with Tailevu North facing challenges with discipline, resulting in a yellow card. Despite this disadvantage, they managed to score a try that was initially not awarded but later confirmed by the referees after some discussion.
In a twist of fate, Tailevu North suffered another setback with a second yellow card, leaving them a player short. Nasinu seized this opportunity, adding a late penalty to secure the victory and finalize the score at 17-13.
