The Nasinu Secondary School Old Boys team showcased their potential during the final leg of the Fiji Sports Council’s under-20 sevens tournament. This marked the team’s debut in a major competition, and they impressively secured a victory over the Lami Cavaliers with a score of 14-0 in the Bowl quarter-finals held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Head coach Digitaki Leavaci highlighted that the team consists of current players from the school’s U18 Deans squad, making their participation even more significant. He noted that reaching the Bowl quarter-final in their first tournament exceeded expectations and provided invaluable experience for the players.
Leavaci shared that the last four weeks had been challenging, as many players were still handling school commitments, leading to inconsistent attendance at training sessions. However, the coach remains optimistic about the talent within the team, especially after their performance in the Deans quarter-finals earlier this year.
Looking ahead, the team has set its sights on the Fiji Bitter 7s series U20. They are already planning training programs to enhance their competitiveness moving forward. Leavaci expressed confidence in their ability to improve and compete against top teams in future tournaments.
This journey indicates a promising future for the Nasinu Secondary School Old Boys, as they continue to develop their skills and gain valuable experience on the field. Their determination and potential make them a team to watch in upcoming competitions, and their commitment to training reaffirms their ambition in the world of rugby.
