The Nasinu Secondary School Under-18 rugby team has advanced to the semifinals of the Vodafone Deans Trophy for the first time in 12 years. Coach Semisi Yasiyasi noted that the last occasion the team reached this stage was in 2012.

This Saturday, the team will compete against Cuvu College at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium. They secured their semifinal spot by defeating Tailevu North College with a score of 17-13 in the quarterfinals.

Yasiyasi expressed that the team’s progress is a result of hard work and dedication. He commended the players for their sacrifices and emphasized their humility as they approach the semifinal.

Cuvu College, who recently upset Ratu Kadavulevu School with a close score of 23-22, is expected to be a formidable opponent. Yasiyasi mentioned that the team will focus on refining specific aspects of their game in preparation for the match.

Nasinu Secondary School has a rich history of producing notable rugby talent, including Lemeki Koroi, Setareki Tawake, former France winger Virimi Vakatawa, Sakeo Raloa, and current Wallabies winger Marika Koroibete.

Yasiyasi has urged former students, parents, and guardians to rally behind the team as they prepare for the crucial semifinal.
