Residents of Nasinu have expressed a strong desire for improvements across critical sectors of the economy, particularly during a recent consultation regarding the 2025-2026 national budget. They raised several concerns with government officials, emphasizing the need for enhancements in healthcare and education, as well as infrastructure upgrades, including road maintenance and improvements to feeder roads.
In addition to these issues, residents also called for increased support for vulnerable members of the community. Responding to these concerns, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, acknowledged the challenges raised and assured attendees that these issues would be communicated to the relevant authorities during the budget formulation process.
Professor Prasad mentioned the ongoing need for loans but highlighted positive economic indicators, indicating that the GDP is growing, and the debt-to-GDP ratio is decreasing. He encouraged public participation in consultations to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard and that the budget aligns with the community’s needs.
This community engagement reflects a broader commitment to foster dialogue and transparency between the government and citizens, aiming to create policies that genuinely address the pressing needs of the populace. Overall, these consultations represent a hopeful step towards building a more inclusive and responsive government that seeks to improve living conditions and infrastructure for all citizens.
In similar discussions held with District Advisory Councillors, Professor Prasad has consistently emphasized the need for collective community action to solve complex issues such as drug use among the youth and infrastructure challenges, showcasing an ongoing commitment to proactive governance.
