The Nasinu Town Council has commenced the process of addressing the issue of abandoned vehicles along Vatoa and FNTC Road in Narere by issuing removal notices. These derelict vehicles have become a significant concern, as they not only detract from the aesthetic of the area but also pose various health and safety risks.

According to the Council, unowned and neglected vehicles contribute to the breeding of mosquitoes, hinder traffic flow, and create environmental hazards. In a firm notice, the Council has reminded both garage owners and vehicle owners that leaving abandoned vehicles unattended on public roads or reserves is against the law.

To enforce compliance, the Council has warned that failure to remove these vehicles will lead to enforcement actions. This may include imposing fines, towing the vehicles at the owner’s expense, and potentially pursuing prosecution under relevant Council by-laws.

The presence of these abandoned vehicles obstructs access for emergency services and pedestrians, fosters dumping of rubbish and hazardous waste, and diminishes the overall visual appeal and property values within the community. The Council is strongly encouraging vehicle owners to take immediate action and remove these abandoned vehicles, urging a collective effort to maintain a cleaner and safer neighborhood for all residents.
