Nasinu and Tailevu Naitasiri football teams will not be part of the 2024 Rooster Chicken/Scoops Ice Cream Battle of the Giants (BOG) tournament.

Nasinu’s 1-0 win over Ba in round 12 of the DFPL moved them to eighth in the standings, but they have been ruled out on hosting grounds.

As a result, Suva, which is in ninth place on the ladder, advances in Nasinu’s place due to holding the hosting rights.

Tailevu Naitasiri fails to qualify as they are at the bottom of the DFPL standings.

The top eight teams that will feature include Rewa, Labasa, Lautoka, Ba, Nadi, Navua, Nadroga, and Suva.

The pool draws for the BOG tournament are scheduled for tomorrow.

The group matches will be played from July 26-28 and knockout stages are planned for a week later at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Labasa won the tournament last year, defeating Navua 2-1 after extra time in the final at the HFC Bank Stadium, with the pool matches being played in Nadi a week earlier.

Ba has the best record in the tournament, winning it 17 out of the 24 finals in which they have featured.
