A significant advancement in infrastructure has been marked with the official commissioning of the new Naseyani Bridge in Naseyani Village, Rakiraki, which took place yesterday. This $3.281 million project, funded entirely by the Government of Fiji, aims to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth within the local community.

Minister for Public Works, Transport and Meteorological Services, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, along with Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, Alitia Bainivalu, inaugurated the bridge, which is expected to benefit approximately 200 residents in the Naseyani area. This development is crucial for farmers who will gain easier access to markets in Rakiraki and Suva, as well as improved access to schools, hospitals, and essential services, significantly enhancing the overall quality of life for locals.

Minister Tuisawau emphasized the bridge’s importance, stating, “This bridge will also facilitate your commute, granting you seamless access to essential services, including schools and hospitals.” Additionally, the bridge connects the villages of Nananu and Narauyaba No. 2 to the Kings Road, linking the interior of Rakiraki District and Saivou District in Ra Province to surrounding areas.

Built to withstand extreme weather conditions, the Naseyani Bridge not only provides a safer and more reliable crossing but also reflects the government’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and sustainable transport network for all Fijians. This project stands as a hopeful symbol of progress, promising to uplift the Naseyani Village community and improve livelihoods.

In summary, the inauguration of the Naseyani Bridge represents a crucial step forward in infrastructure development, aiming to boost both connectivity and economic opportunities for residents, particularly in agriculture and access to essential services.
