Suva Grammar School has achieved a remarkable feat by winning both the under-15 and under-16 Vodafone Super Deans titles, bringing pride to Nasese. The under-16 team reached the finals for the first time since under-14 and concluded the season with an impressive 29-12 victory over Lelean Memorial School, securing the championship.
The team set a strong pace with three first-half tries scored by Ilimotama Jason, Josua Tawake, and Koroi Saula, leading 19-7 at halftime. In the second half, two more tries ensured their victory, despite a response from Davuilevu.
“It’s a significant achievement for the team as we have been striving for this since under-14,” said team manager Evia Turaganivalu. She noted the team’s growth and maturity over the years.
The players attributed their success to the supportive network that has been with them throughout their journey in Deans rugby. “We toured New Zealand and give all the glory to God, as He is the source of our strength,” she added. “We have been together for three years, and I consider them my sons. I have my own five sons, and this adds up to 55.”
In the under-15 finals, Suva Grammar defeated Marist Brothers High School with a score of 31-24. The school celebrated the success of both teams in a ceremony at their hall in Nasese.
