The province of Namosi has set an ambitious goal of becoming drug-free within the next three years. This commitment was announced by paramount chief Ratu Suliano Matanitobu, who highlighted the urgent need to address the escalating drug crisis in the area.
Ratu Suliano pointed out that if the province does not achieve this target within the initial three-year timeframe, an additional two years will be added to the effort, underscoring the seriousness of their commitment. He stated, “We are dedicated to eradicating drug abuse within Namosi,” signifying that this issue is a top priority for the region.
To combat drug-related activities effectively, drastic measures will be implemented. Individuals caught in drug-related offenses will be removed from their communities across the province, which encompasses areas from Naboro to Navua. Ratu Suliano emphasized that local communities would be responsible for holding individuals accountable for their actions.
He expressed that these actions align with the traditional teachings and values of the vanua, emphasizing the importance of accountability and collective responsibility among residents.
