The province of Namosi is taking significant steps towards eliminating drug abuse, with a commitment to achieving a drug-free environment within three years. This initiative was announced by the paramount chief of Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobu, who emphasized the region’s urgency in addressing the ongoing drug crisis.
Ratu Suliano outlined a series of strict measures aimed at curbing drug-related issues, indicating that if the province does not meet its goal within the three-year timeframe, a two-year extension will be enacted. He underscored that combating drug abuse has become a top priority for Namosi, highlighting their strong determination to eradicate this problem.
“We are committed to eradicating drug abuse within Namosi,” he stated firmly. The measures include a zero-tolerance policy for individuals engaged in drug-related activities, which includes removal from their communities. This policy will affect residents throughout the province, from Naboro to Navua, ensuring comprehensive coverage.
Ratu Suliano reinforced the importance of collective responsibility, referencing the vanua’s teachings and traditional values that stress accountability. “Our community will hold those responsible for their actions,” he declared, showcasing a united front in the fight against drug abuse.
