The Vashist Muni Memorial School was alive with energy as the Namosi Athletics Association’s Zone event commenced on Thursday. This vibrant two-day athletic competition showcased the talents of youth athletes vying for the opportunity to represent Namosi at the forthcoming National Primary Athletics Competition scheduled for November 27-28.
Manoa Puamau, the association’s president, shared his enthusiasm regarding this year’s significant increase in participation, which saw around 300 athletes from five schools take part—up from approximately 200 athletes from three schools last year. “This year’s participation has grown notably, with two additional schools joining the competition,” he noted, referencing Namosi’s previous representation at the national level in Lautoka.
For many participants, this event marks their return to athletics after a ten-year break, with Namosi’s involvement in the sport having resumed last year.
This event not only represents a revival of athletic spirit within the community but also offers young athletes a platform to showcase their hard work and dedication. As Namosi continues to foster talent and participation in sports, the future looks bright for these aspiring athletes, inspiring them to strive for excellence on both local and national stages.
In summary, the Namosi Zone event is a promising sign of revitalized community engagement in athletics, setting the stage for a new generation of talent to emerge and shine.
