The inaugural Namaka Volleyball Tournament is set to occur at Namaka Public School on January 17-18, promising an exhilarating two days for volleyball fans in Fiji. The event will showcase both men’s and women’s volleyball, along with mixed teams, featuring a projected 50 teams in total—comprising 24 men’s teams, 10 women’s teams, and 16 mixed teams. Six courts will be established at the school to accommodate this significant number of participants, with the venue providing excellent facilities, including indoor options in case of rain.

A prize pool of $2000 will reward the men’s champions, while $1000 each will be given to the winners of the women’s and mixed categories. The registration fees are set at $300 for men’s teams, $200 for women’s teams, and $250 for mixed teams. Tadranu emphasized that the primary goal of the tournament is to offer a constructive outlet for youth, steering them away from potential negative influences and into positive community engagement and development through sports.

With the tournament strategically scheduled just one week before the National Club Championships, it serves as an ideal opportunity for participating teams to enhance their skills and competitive edge. The endorsement from the Fiji Volleyball Federation underscores the tournament’s significance in preparing clubs for the national stage.

This event not only aims to foster a love for volleyball but also highlights the power of sports in nurturing youth and strengthening community ties, making it a hopeful initiative for the local area.
