Namaka-Nadi Breath Test Crackdown: Eight Arrested for Drunk Driving

A recent Random Breath Test operation carried out by the Police Force’s Traffic Enforcement Unit along the Namaka-Nadi corridor led to the arrest of eight drivers on charges of drunk driving. Among those apprehended was a police officer stationed in Lautoka, highlighting the serious nature of the violations.

The operation saw a total of 237 drivers tested, with 20 of them released after their breath-alcohol readings indicated levels below the legal limit. Unfortunately, eight individuals were found to exceed the prescribed alcohol levels, resulting in their detention.

This operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement to ensure road safety and deter driving under the influence. The results reflect ongoing efforts to combat the dangers associated with drunk driving, which pose significant risks not only to the drivers themselves but also to other road users. By enforcing these checks, the Police Force aims to create a safer environment for all.
