The inaugural Nakavika Youth 7s tournament in Namosi is set to be an exciting event, featuring 32 teams over three days from Wednesday to Friday. Tournament secretary Merewai Serukeitoga expressed her enthusiasm for hosting this event for the first time, creating an opportunity for young players to showcase their abilities.
“This is the first competition in Namosi, and we are thrilled to bring this tournament together,” Serukeitoga stated. “It mainly serves as a platform for youth to come together and play rugby, providing them a chance to gain recognition in the sport.”
In addition to local teams, participants from Serua and several teams from Suva will be present, promising thrilling rugby action throughout the tournament. The event will also include four women’s teams and six mixed volleyball teams, adding diversity and excitement.
Food stalls will be available at the venue, encouraging attendees to come and support their favorite teams. The match schedule has been organized into eight pools, featuring various teams in each.
Pool A includes Liganibai Saliadrau, St Michael Navunikabi, St Gabriel Nakavika, and Nakorowai Brothers. Pool B features Nasamama Brothers, Muana Exile, St Gabriel, and Seniniu. In Pool C, Seniniu One, Veinuqa Babas, and Bula Brothers will compete, while Pool D hosts Seniqumu, Seniwaulo Wainiyavu, Untouch Fiji, and Cakaunivalu.
Pool E includes Veivatuloa, Veinuqa Babas, Matababani, and St Paul Navunikabi, whereas Pool F consists of Seniqumu, Nasamama Brothers, St Gabriel, and Nuku. Pool G features Seniboro, Wailevu Brothers, Bula Brothers, and Nakavu. Lastly, Pool H comprises Senibua Two, Vakacegu Brothers, Seniwaqiri, and Untouch Wainadoi.
